This update is designed for the Palm Treo 750 running on the AT&T network. This will update the smartphone’s software to the latest release, version 2.25.

What does this update do?

This free, downloadable update adds the new Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional operating system, HSDPA support, AT&T services, and other enhancements to your Treo 750 device.

Enhancements:
  • Faster downloads with High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) – Get faster access to large attachments, streaming video, and more1.
  • Update for Loss of System Sounds - Included in the update.
  • Improved Calendar functionality - See the big picture at a glance. New topline bar in the agenda view shows when you're free or busy, and when you have scheduling conflicts. Drill down to view meeting attendees, contact information, acceptance status, and reply-to or forward meeting requests.
  • Additional email support - Send and receive HTML emails with tables, bullets, and colored text intact2,3. The "smart filter" for contact search has been updated so you can search for emails stored on your company's Exchange Server3. Even send an out-of-office message from your device3.
  • Windows Vista compatibility - Easily sync your smartphone to your Windows Vista PC, via the Windows Mobile Device Centre (WMDC).
  • Better security and IT policies3 - Remotely wipe devices and SD cards clean in case of loss or theft. Plus, now IT can create and enforce tougher security policies, such as password protection to better manage the entire device fleet.
  • Run existing applications - Most Windows Mobile 5.0 applications will work after you update to Windows Mobile 6. The .NET Compact Framework will be installed in ROM to make it easier for developers to deploy custom apps.
  • Internet Connection Sharing - Utilize your smartphone capabilities by using your phone as a high-speed wireless modem for your laptop4. It's easy to set up and even easier to connect. Just click and go!

System Requirements
  • Palm Treo 750 smart device for AT&T.
    This software will not work on any other Windows Mobile devices

  • Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2, or Windows Vista.
  • Internet Explorer version 6 or higher on desktop PC.
  • Minimum screen resolution of 800x600 on desktop PC.
  • Smartphone must be connected to power adapter and the sync cable throughout the update.
  • ActiveSync 4.5 (You must install ActiveSync 4.5 before running the installation) or Windows Mobile Device Centre (Windows Vista).

    To check your version of ActiveSync please follow these steps:

    1. On your desktop PC right-click the ActiveSync icon in the Windows system tray.
    2. Select "Open Microsoft ActiveSync".

Restrictions and Information

  • There is a limit of one download per customer. Please ensure you retain your copy of your download on your computer because you will not be able to obtain another copy once you start the download process.
  • Once you install this download on your device, you will not be able to revert back to Windows Mobile 5.0.
  • Palm Windows Mobile 6 does not support the Blackberry Connect (BBC) service. Please do not install this update if you use the BBC service on the Treo 750 otherwise you will no longer be able to use that service on your device.
  • Tom Tom GPS solutions may not function correctly on Palm Windows Mobile 6.

Do you need this update?

To check if your Treo 750 is eligible for the Updater follow these steps:

  1. Press Start . Select Settings.
  2. Select the System tab. Open About. Go to the Phone tab.
  3. Look at the Software Version. What do you see?

Before you start

Do not stop the update before it is finished. Like any important software update for computing devices it is possible for your device to become unusable if the update process is interrupted during a critical phase.

Running applications or browsing the Internet on the desktop PC during the update is not advised. Ensure that ActiveSync is not currently synchronizing or running in the background prior to executing the Treo update. These activities may interfere with the updater process.

Before installing this update please make sure to backup the data on your device. Installing the update will delete all data present on the device. Do ... Do Not ...
  • Have ActiveSync 4.5 installed on your desktop PC.
  • Connect your smart device to the USB ActiveSync cable and complete a synchronization before installing the update. ActiveSync should say "Connected" with the green icon, but not be currently synchronizing, when you run the update.
  • Connect the cable directly to a USB port on your desktop PC. Cradles, docking stations and USB hubs may interfere with the upgrade process.
  • Turn off anti-virus software, screen savers and power saving on your desktop PC.
  • If using a laptop, ensure it has power for at least 60-90 minutes.
  • " Make sure that your Treo 750 has at least 4 MB available storage memory(how to check).
  • Unlock your device by entering the password/pin and turn off any passwords, Owner Information (if enabled) on the device.
  • Disable the ActiveSync option to "sync items as they arrive" if you are using it; instead, set your device to synchronize on a schedule or not at all during the update.
  • Save this update locally to your desktop or to a CD or expansion card before running it on your Treo 750.
    Due to Microsoft requirements only one download is allowed per device serial number. Saving the update locally will ensure that it is readily available should you need to use it again.
  • Consult the Troubleshooting tips if you have any difficulty with this update.


  • Install this update if you are using Blackberry Connect (BBC). Palm Windows Mobile 6 does not support the BBC service.
  • Pick up or move your Treo 750 during the update. This can cause the cable to lose connection and halt the update.
  • Lock or suspend your desktop PC during the update.
  • Use Bluetooth wireless to connect with your desktop PC during the update; instead use the USB ActiveSync cable.
  • Remove the synchronization cable during the update.
  • Remove the battery from your smartphone during the update.
  • Remove the power adapter cable during the update.
  • Have a miniSD card in the device when installing this update.
